This is completely free. Testing is offered at multiple drive-through testing locations across Los Angeles. Here’s is where you can find FREE COVID-19 testing sites in Los Angeles: https://covid19.lacounty.gov/testing/.
This was a quick and easy process and a cotton swap COVID test, so the tests are painless. The tests are appointment only and fill up fast but seem to have plenty of availability if you book early enough in the morning, so if your local COVID testing site is full, just check back early in the morning the next day and there are usually plenty available and testing sites around the city for you to choose a nearby location.
I chose the Dodger stadium COVID testing site which took about an hour or less. This is a drive up test you take in your car, so just be patient and try to arrive up a little early. Instructions are available by tuning into radio station AM 1620 or by downloading the Mixhalo radio app which I did because I couldn’t figure out how to get my car radio to land on AM1620. You are required to keep your windows up for the safety of the staff and surrounding cars but the radio instruction correspond to the video playing on the giant monitors.
Testing was full on Friday but had plenty of options to choose from on Saturday morning. They say the results could take a few days but I took the test on Monday morning at 10AM and had the results back before noon the next day. You can have the test results sent to you via text, email or both.
A big thank you to Mayor, Eric Garcetti, and the city of Los Angeles for providing this free service to us in LA.
Good luck and stay safe!
